7 Things Guys Find Really Romantic

Men crave romantic gestures just
like we do — they just don’t like
to admit it. And while sending
roses to his office likely won’t do
it for your dude, there are plenty
of other acts of love that will make his heart
flutter. I turned to the experts (my guy
friends, of course) to find out the top
romantic gestures they'd love. Here’s what
they had to say:

1. Stock your fridge with his favorite beer.
Yes, men love beer (duh). But this is about
more than his favorite brew. “It tells me she
pays attention to the little things I say and
do,” explains my friend Jared. “That’s what
makes me feel special. Oh, and yeah, I like
having the beer too!”

2. Take charge. Men get tired of coming up
with date-night ideas. So take the reins and
relieve him of planning duties for an evening.
“Bonus points if she plans the night around
my interests,” says my (other) friend Jared.

3. Score him tickets to the big game. This
probably isn’t your idea of fun, and that’s half
the point. He’ll not only enjoy the game, but
because you don’t benefit from the gift at all
—dollar dogs are not exactly fine cuisine, do
you feel me?!—you’re showing that you
genuinely, selflessly care about making him
happy.

4. Act out his fantasy. Remember the Friends
episode where Rachel donned a Princess Leia
costume for Ross? According to my friend
Dan, that really is a thing. Not the whole Star
Wars motif but a guy would totally dig a
woman willing to turn his favorite movie
scene into a reality.

5. Slip him a note. Stash it in his briefcase or
put it in his coat pocket. “While it may seem
small to some people, it means a lot to me,”
says my friend Steve. “It doesn't need to be
long—it’s just nice to know she was thinking
of me.”

6. Cook him breakfast. After an evening with a
certain ex, I used to sneak out of bed to whip
up scrambled eggs for two in the kitchen. He
told me once that sticking around to make
sure he was fed—taking care of him, that is—
meant as much to him as the evening before.

7. Spoil his dog. “The way to a man’s heart is
through his pet,” says Dan. The next time you
swing by his place, bring a toy or treat for
Fido in your tote and watch your man swoon.
